Research: Mobile Shopping On The Rise, 45 Million In USA Used Shopping Apps



(GSM Insider) - As the smartphone increasing popular with more and more people around the world that using smartphone. The smartphone slowly replaced the traditional cellphones as the smartphone has more features. Traditionally, the cellphones being used to make calls and sending sms as it running on 2G network. But with the advance technology, more features being added to the smartphone. This makes the smartphone bring more convenience to human life. 

In recent Nielsen survey suggests that more people are getting comfortable with the mobile payments. According to a June 2012 survey among 5,000 Android and iPhone users in the United States, Nielsen found that 47 percent of them have used a native shopping app on their phones. Analysts also believe that 45 million U.S. consumers have used shopping apps, with an average usage of 17 times per month (per person).

From the Nielsen survey, eBay enjoying the most unique audience, follow by Amazon and Groupon. However, it is not these three that people spending most time. Shopkick has the longest average time spent in the USA. According to Don Kellogg, director of telecom insights at Nielsen, shares the same sentiments, saying “Retailers are finding that consumers are willing to use smartphone apps to enhance their shopping experience, and this data shows usage of shopping apps is growing.” Check the chart down below.
