Jolla Mobile: No Sailfish OS For Nokia N9 and Current MeeGo Devices

(GSM Insider) - Opps! Good news for Meego fans but bad news for current MeeGo devices users. Seems like Jolla Mobile not going to release its new MeeGo OS to current MeeGo devices.

Few days ago, Jolla Mobile unveiled the Sailfish OS. It is the new MeeGo OS after left Nokia. However, here's the bad news.

Sailfish OS is similar like the MeeGo OS. So it wont be difficult to run Sailfish OS in MeeGo devices. However, your warranty might void if you run Sailfish in your Nokia N9. This is because both are now different operating system under two different companies.

Jolla Mobile stated that developer SDK coming soon and the first Sailfish OS powered smartphone will introduce in December.

Jolla Mobile Set To Unveil Sailfish OS On November 21 at Helsinki

(GSM Insider) - After Intel and Nokia ditch the MeeGo OS, it set to reborn as the new operating system under the guidance of Jolla Mobile. The new MeeGo OS will known as the Sailfish OS.

First of all, we are not sure why Jolla Mobile named it as Sailfish OS. Perhaps there are much fishes in Scandinavian. Jolla Mobile posted the invitaion on its website. Jolla Mobile set to unveil the Sailfish operating system on 21-22 November 2012 in Helsinki, Finland.

According to news, China and Hong Kong are two of the first few countries to release Sailfish powered smartphones and tablets. Sailfish OS has more features compare to Android and the price of Sailfish OS device is lower than other operating system.

We have seen Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system struggle to break down the domination of Android with the support of Windows 8. Can Sailfish OS brings threat to Android? At the moment, it is hard to predict whether Sailfish OS able to perform under the guidance of Jolla Mobile.

"Sailfish" Is The Codename For Latest MeeGo Operating System

(GSM Insider) - Since Nokia adopted the Windows Phone operating system, we hardly see new smartphones that run on MeeGo operating system. After Nokia decided to drop MeeGo from its smartphone line, a group of MeeGo developer decided to leave Nokia and formed a new mobile company with the name of Jolla Mobile

Recently, Jolla Mobile receives investment from multiple mobile operators and using it for the development of new MeeGo operating system. The “Sailifish” is the codename for new MeeGo operating system. MeeGo set to open new development centres in Hong Kong and China.

There are a few weeks to go before the release of Windows 8 operating system. This period is the most important for Microsoft as it brings the final tweaks for the Windows 8 before launching it to the users.

Jolla Mobile set to unveil first device to run on “Sailfish” operating system in November. The first “Sailfish” smartphone will available on the market at Q3 of 2013 as there still long way to go for the development and licensing procedure among Jolla and manufacturers.

According to Jolla Mobile CEO Jussi Hurmola, MeeGo operating system is not copied from anyone and will not involve in patent lawsuit. This is another chance for manufacturer as it will low down the risk of being sued.
