Jolla Unveiled Sailfish OS, Focusing On Multitasking and Speed [Video]

(GSM Insider) - Earlier today, Finnish company Jolla Mobile unveiled its own mobile operating system which is known as the Sailfish OS at the Slush Event in Finland. The Sailfish OS is the mobile operating system that based on MeeGo while Jolla Mobile is formed by former MeeGo team at Nokia



After Jolla Mobile established, Jolla Mobile renamed it as the Sailfish OS. The Sailfish OS is based on multitasking. So you no longer need to close an application in order to run another application. You can run many apps in one moment. Really cool as it showed in video.

The Sailfish OS supports many SoC that available in the market. ST-Ericsson already stated that the NovaThor will support Sailfish OS.

We are happy to announce that Sailfish OS added to our list of supported operating system. With this partnership, it showed that NovaThor able to support many different operating systems in the market. We shall see new Sailfish device with NovaThor on board on next year - ST-Ericsson VP Peter Oaklander.

We are happy that able to partner with ST-Ericsson. We will announce more partners very soon - Jolla Mobile CEO Marc Dillon.

At the moment, Jolla Mobile already set up partnership with various manufacturers in Finland and China. China is one of the main market for Jolla Mobile to introduce the Sailfish OS devices. 

At them moment, the SDK toolkit of Sailfish OS already available. So developers are welcome to contact Jolla Mobile for more information.
