Corning Says The First Device With Its Flexible Glass Will Only Available In 2016

(GSM Insider) - Corning Says The First Device With Its Flexible Glass Will Only Available In 2016.

At the CES 2013, Corning unveiled its flexible glass known as the Willow Glass. Corning said that the Willow Glass will start production in Q2 2013. But the production of Williow Glass has been delayed, GSM Insider understands.

Corning President James Clappin said that the first device with Willow Glass will only available in 2016, which is three years later. This is because the OEMs still not yet develop product that compatible with flexible glass.

GSM Insider learnt that it is not easy for the OEMs to develop the device with flexible glass because it needs huge investment in R&D of the device. A device with flexible glass isn't only the glass is flexible but also include the camera, main board battery as well as the body. Do you think it is easy to develop a real bendable device? It isn't.
