Sony Set To Focus Only On High And Medium End Devices In The Future

(GSM Insider) - Sony Set To Focus Only On High And Medium End Devices In The Future.

Sony Mobile no longer interested to produce low end smartphones? Probably yes. At least this plan is under the considerations of Sony Mobile

In recent interview with CNET, Stephen Sneeden, the Xperia product marketing manager revealed some important plans on its future.

"We're ready to be a premium smartphone provider, logically then, at the very entry level is where you lose the 'Sonyness'. And it's where you cannot implement some of these wonderful things from Sony at such a low cost, we might leave the very entry tier to some other manufacturers," Sneeden said.

From the statement from Stephen clearly showed that the Japanese mobile company indeed has the plan to leave the low-end smartphones behind. This is because Sony aims to become a premium smartphone provider or should said luxury smartphone brand. Just like what Apple is doing.

He wrapped up the interview by saying that the plan still under consideration and Sony Mobile has no plan to ditch medium entry smartphone.

Recently, Sony Xperia Z was launched and it is another premium smartphone. It packs with 5-inch 1080p Full HD display, quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 13-megapixels camera and Jelly Bean. You might interested in Sony Xperia Z hands-on images
