(GSM Insider) - Another new quad-core processor on the way to our mobile market, it is the MediaTek MT6589. MediaTek is a Taiwanese based chips manufacturer.
There are many quad-core processors in the market. NVIDIA Tegra 3 is the world's first quad-core mobile processor. Samsung also introduced its own brand Exynos quad-core processor. Huawei has K3V2 quad-core while Meizu has its own MX5S quad-core processor as well. The most popular is the Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor. The enter of MediaTek certainly brings another alternative for OEMs.
Earlier today, MediaTek announced that the launch date of MT6589 falls on December 12th, 2012 at Shenzhen, China. Lenovo, TCL, LG and other OEMs will send representatives to attend the event.
The first smartphone with MediaTek MT6589 will manufacture by TCL. The price is around RMB $1499.
