(GSM Insider) - Once upon a time, HTC is one of the world's top 3 smartphone maker. But this is no longer the trend after the rising of Samsung. Earlier this year, HTC stated that it will turn its focus to Chinese market. Seems like this strategy is bearing fruits now.
In the latest Gartner report, HTC standing at the fourth position where Nokia dropped from third to seventh. Seems like HTC still holding some market share at the smartphone market.
At China, HTC facing competition from Apple and Samsung. Therefore, it is interesting to see how HTC set up partnership with three major carriers in China. China Mobile owns more than 70% of market share in China while China Telecom and China Unicom took the rest.
First half of this year, HTC released One Series to three major carriers. It receives nice response and the sales was impressive. The new Desire Series that priced around RMB $1500 also not bad at all and achieved second position at overall sales in that category.
HTC is currently on the recovery mode, if not worldwide market, at least in China. The agreement with Apple on patents left a better route for HTC to continue produce better smartphone. However, HTC involved in the patents lawsuit with Nokia recently.
Not only in China, we hope that HTC able to produce more smartphones in the future. This is something good for consumers as the current smartphone market dominates by Samsung. Recently, HTC also introduced to Windows Phones - HTC 8X and HTC 8S. Hopefully, these two devices able to bring more success to HTC.
