Android Dominates China Smartphone Market With 90% of Market Share

(GSM Insider) - Just imagine 9 out of 10 smartphone users in China are using Android devices. This is the scene at the country with world's largest population.

In the latest stats from Analysys International, it reveals that 90.1% of smartphone in China are running on Android. Then Apple's iOS with 4.2%  and Symbian with 2.4% only. These numbers do not include those unofficial devices that purchased from other countries.

In China, there are multiple brands of smartphone that popular. For examples - XiaoMi, Lenovo, Meizu, Coolpad and Oppo. You might never heard them before or very seldom heard them after all. But they are really popular in China.

Due to the large population, these companies no need to ship their devices overseas as focusing on its local market already generated enough profits.

Since the numbers are not included those unofficial devices, so the numbers might be not so correct. There are huge numbers of people purchased iPhone from neighbour Hong Kong. The 4.2% might only represents the total of iPhone activated at China Telecom.

China definitely is a huge pie for all manufacturers. Thats why Apple eager to set up partnership with China Mobile for the iPhone 5 release. China Mobile is the current world's largest mobile operator in terms of subscribers.

Nielsen: Android Market Share Growth In US, iOS Remains Firm

(GSM Insider) - We knew that the Android from Google and iOS from Apple are two of the leading mobile platform at the moment. Although Microsoft hopes to mount challenge on both of them Windows Phone, but it still at the beginning stage. There still long way to go for Windows Phone. With BlackBerry still working on the BlackBerry 10 devices, their performance are not so good at the moment. Nielsen releases latest report of Mobile platform in the United States.

In the second quarter of 2012, Android powered 51.9% of smartphones in the United States. Apple's iOS stands at second position with 34.3%. BlackBerry OS falls further with 8% only. Other operating systems like Symbian, Windows Phone and Bada contributed for 5.9% of smartphones in the US.

In the past three months, 58.6% of those purchased a smartphone chose Android device, 33% chose iOS. There are many new Android devices came into the market while the iPhone 4S already nine months old. This is the reason for falls of iOS market share and growth in Android market share.

With the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, LG Optimus G, Sony Xperia T and new HTC phablet coming soon, we expect those devices gave a brave fight for Apple new iPhone. Windows Phone might not popular at the moment, but we expect it gains more market share with more Windows Phone 8 devices coming to you.  [Source]
