(GSM Insider) - Intel Showcased Motorola Razr i At CES 2013, Gets Hands-on.

Motorola Razr i is the latest Intel powered smartphone that launched not long ago. Intel brings this device along to the CES 2013. 




Motorola Razr i is an Android smartphone that runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It continues the style of the Razr series with Kevlar design. It has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display.

Motorola Razr i is powered by 2GHz Intel Atom Z2480 processor. This processor is based on the X86 architecture Medfield platform. Besides this, Motorola Razr i has a 8-megapixels camera.

(GSM Insider) - Sony and Motorola Preparing Low Cost Devices Powered by MediaTek MT6589 Quad-Core

Since the launched of MT6589 by MediaTek, there were rumours stated many manufacturers interested in this low cost quad-core processor for their devices.


TCL P600 and TCL Y900 are among the first few devices that powered by MediaTek MT6589. These two smartphones were unveiled two weeks before in China.

According to source from China, both Sony and Motorola are testing the MediaTek MT6589. After the testing is completed, there will be more quad-core devices with lower price coming soon. The source added that LG also interested in this low cost processor as well.

Other manufacturers like Lenovo, TCL, Huawei, Gionee, ZTE, Coolpad and Vivo are among the manufacturers that interested in the MediaTek MT6589 processor. Most of those companies are based in China because low budget devices are suitable for the Chinese market.

MediaTek MT6589 is based on Cortex-A7 architecture, the frequency between 1GHz to 1.2GHz, supports LDDR2 RAM, supports 720p display resolution, supports WCDMA and TD-SCDMA network, supports 13-megapixels camera and supports 1080p Full HD video playback. MediaTek MT6589 has integrated PowerVR SGX544 GPU.

Not much devices from Motorola after it was acquired by Google. Motorola only introduced a few devices to the market this year include Motorola Droid Razr HD, Droid Razr Maxx HD and Motorola Razr M. The latest rumours suggested that Motorola preparing next gen Motorola Razr M



The next gen Motorola Razr M simply known as the Motorola Razr M HD. From the name "HD", it is definitely related to the the display. Just like the display of Motorola Droid Razr HD upgraded from the original Motorola Droid Razr. 

According to rumours, the Motorola Razr M HD set to come with an upgraded 720p HD display. The original Motorola Razr M features 4.3-inch display while the Motorola Razr M HD set to feature 4.5-inch display which is slightly larger. 

Besides this, the Motorola Razr M HD set to come with 3300mAh battery which is larger 1300mAh than the original Motorola Razr M. Perhaps it could known as the Motorola Razr M Maxx or Razr M Maxx HD after all. 

Nothing confirm by Google or Motorola at the moment. This could be pure speculation on the upcoming device from Motorola and Google.

Motorola Razr i was launched back in September. At that time, it is only available in Black colour. And now, the Motorola Razr i available in White version and it was launched in UK


The White version of Motorola Razr i also has the same features like the black colour. It is powered by 2GHz Intel processor and Android 4.0 ICS. The back cover still remains same like the Kevlar design. It has 4.3-inch display and very thin bezel. 

This white version of Motorola Razr i available at Orange UK for £20 on contract. However, there are no pricing yet on the unlocked version. You can consider this white colour Motorola Razr i as the holidays gift as well.

Motorola Mobility Sells Manufacturing Plants In China and Brazil To Flextronics


(GSM Insider) - Motorola Mobility Sells Manufacturing Plants In China and Brazil To Flextronics

This is another move from Motorola Mobility in order to cut its costs. Both Motorola Mobility and Flextronics announced that both parties already reached agreement as Motorola Mobility to sell its manufacturing plants in Tianjin, China and Jaguariuna, Brazil.

Besides this, both companies also reached agreement on the “manufacturing services agreement for Android and other mobile devices.”. In other words, Motorola brand Android devices are going to manufacture by Flextronics in the future.

Flextronics is a manufacturer which is based on Singapore and having operations in more than 30 countries around the world. The notable products from Flextronics included the Xbox and Xbox 360.


With this move, Motorola Mobility continues in trimming its operations around the world under the Google supervision. Yesterday, it announced that going to quit South Korea next year.

Motorola Confirmed 4.1 Jelly Bean Arriving To Droid Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD On Next Week

(GSM Insider) - Good news! Motorola confirmed that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update coming to two of its devices - Motorola Droid Razr HD and Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD.


Last month, the Motorola Droid Razr M received the 4.1 Jelly Bean update after two months on sales. Soon, two of its cousin getting the Jelly Bean treat.

The Jelly Bean update added features like Google Now to your device. It also brings more "smoothness" to your Motorola device.

Since the announcement said the update going to arrive on next week. You should manually check for update starts from Monday. Good luck!

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD Red Colour Limited Edition Spotted In Wild, Available For Staff Only

(GSM Insider) - Phewwitt! This is the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD limited edition. This limited edition smartphone features the red and black two colours in mix.



From these two images, the kevlar back casing featuring two colours, red and black. Usually, the Kevlar back casing featuring black and grey two colours in mix. 

This Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD Red Colour Limited only available for Verizon staff at the moment. These two images were provided by Verizon Staff. 

Although it is the limited edition, the specs still the same like the ordinary black colour Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD. It features 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 8 mega-pixels rear camera, 3300mAh battery and 4.7 inch of HD display.

At the moment, there are no pricing yet. We might see Motorola releases it soon.

Motorola RAZR i MT788 Unveiled, Packed With 2GHz Intel Atom

(GSM Insider) - Earlier today, Motorola and China Mobile unveiled another new smartphone, which is known as the Motorola Razr i MT788. This is the Motorola Razr i variant for China Mobile that compatible with TD-SCDMA network.


Here are the specifications of Motorola RAZR i MT788:

Processor: 2GHz Intel Atom Z2480
RAM: 1GB
Internal memory: 4GB

Operating system: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

According to AnTuTu Benchmark Result of Motorola Razr i MT788, it scores 8538 points that better than some of the devices in the market.

Motorola RAZR i MT788 is exclusively available at China Mobile. The price is yet to announce but should be below RMB $2000.

CONFIRMED: No Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Update For Nexus S and Motorola Xoom

(GSM Insider) - The released of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update is not a good news for all Nexus users. It might be a good news for users of Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. But this is not a good news for Nexus S users.


The Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is certainly not coming to the Samsung Nexus S and the Motorola Xoom tablet. Bad news bad news after all.

"There is no support for 4.2 on Nexus S and Xoom. Those devices should continue using 4.1.2. I can’t comment about the future of Nexus S and Xoom, sorry.” - Google's engineer Jean-Baptiste Queru

This is a bad news for those who hope to get the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean to the Samsung Nexus S and Motorola Xoom. 

The Samsung Nexus S is the second Nexus smartphone from Google. As things stand now, the Samsung Nexus S and Motorola Xoom will continue using Android 4.1.2.

Both Motorola Razr i XT890 and Motorola Razr M XT905 having the same dimension. The design of both devices are similar. However, the specs are definitely different. Motorola Razr i XT890 which is powered by Intel Atom is faster than the LG Nexus 4. The processor in Motorola Razr i XT890 has the processing speed which is as fast as a pc. However, the Motorola Razr M XT905 comes with only dual-core Snapdragon. 

Surprisingly, Google never preloaded both Motorola Razr i XT890 and Motorola Razr M XT905 with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean since they are new devices. However, updates will arrive afterward. LG Nexus 4 has the larger battery capacity compare to Motorola Razr i XT890 and Motorola Razr M XT905. Anyway, Motorola Razr i XT890 and Motorola Razr M XT905 have a lower display resolution when compare to the 720p of LG Nexus 4.
