HTC Cracking Down Website That Providing Sense Custom ROMs

(GSM Insider) - HTC Cracking Down Website That Providing Sense Custom ROMs.

There are many Android users chose Android devices because those devices can use to root and install custom ROMs. Android devices are very interesting especially you understand about root and flashing custom ROMs.

Manufacturers providing stock ROMs while users rooted the device and installed custom ROMs in it. Rooted device no longer protected under the warranty. As long as the users do not mind about the warranty and willing to take all responsible, there should be no problem.

It looks like HTC is rethinking on the permission of its Sense ROM. In reddit, a user with the name of James Taylor is said to be the owner of HTCRUU.com website. The website is providing Sense custom ROMs of HTC devices. He received the letter earlier from lawyer asked him to remove the website down.

The main reason for taking the website down and transferring the domain to HTC isn't about the HTC-related domain. If you think that the website hosted unreleased ROMs that led to the removal of website, you are wrong too. The lawyer stated that HTC doesn't want its copyrighted code out there at all.

The lawyer stated that “even ‘release’ ROMs pose similar issues, because they could be modified or changed in a way that could harm the device or its user, and that fault would be imputed to HTC. We really do need you to agree not to provide any HTC ROMs for download.”

Could this be the first step for HTC cracking all the website about its Sense ROMs and custom ROMs?
