Previous reports showed that the iPhone 5 trailed behind Android devices around the world except in the United States, Apple's home country. The same goes to iPhone 5 in the UK.

In the latest statistics from uSwitch that reported by Mobile News, Android devices dominate the top 3 three positions on the UK's Best Selling Chart for January 2013. 

Nothing surprises for the top position as Samsung Galaxy S3 was the best selling in January. Samsung Galaxy Ace and Samsung Galaxy S2 completed the top 3 positions. 

Nokia 100 and Nokia C2-01 took the fourth and fifth position followed by LG Nexus 4 in sixth position. The latest iPhone 5 only took seventh position. Yes, iPhone 5 only at the seventh position. This showed that the popularity of the iPhone was on the declining. 

It was embarrassing for Apple as the iPhone 5 not even on par with both Nokia 100 and Nokia C2-01. These two devices are running on Symbian which was killed off by Nokia recently. 

This is probably the warning for Apple and Tim Cook. Not only Samsung and Android devices triumphed over the iPhone in the UK but also in many other countries.

In October last year, Judge Lucy Koh dismissed the Apple's claim on sales ban of Samsung Galaxy Nexus. But Apple decided to appeal the decision and brings the case to the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals to revisit the sales ban of Samsung Galaxy Nexus. 

According to Reuters, the court rejected Apple's request without any explanation or any published dissents. With this decision, Samsung can continue to sell the Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the United States. But it remains unsure whether Apple will appeal again at the Supreme court.

Apple vs Samsung second lawsuit will start on March 2014.

GOSH! What a duopoly domination of Android and iOS in China. Latest stats suggested that both leading operating systems dominate the world's largest smartphone market.

According to Stategy Analytics, Android and iOS has contributed to 98% of smartphone shipments in China for the 4th quarter of 2012.

On Q4 2012, the shipments of smartphone in China recorded 53 million units compare to 34 million units of Q4 2011. On Q4 2011, 79% of shipments is contributed by Android and iOS. 

For Q4 2012, Android contributed to 86% of smartphone shipment, followed by Apple that contributed 12%. Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Symbiam contributed to the rest 2%. 

A year before on Q4 2011, Android and iOS were contributed to 79% of smartphone shipments in China. A year later in Q4 2012, Android and iOS are dominating the Chinese smartphone market with 98% of market share.

This isn't something good for Apple as a surprise news caught up. British electronics distribution specialist Context released a shocking statistic regarding the tablet sales in the United Kingdom.

According to Context, BlackBerry Playbook sold more than 160,000 units while the latest iPad (known as the iPad with Retina or iPad 4) only sold for about 113,000 units during the Christmas period last year. 

The iPad model that outselling by the BlackBerry Playbook is the iPad 4. The combined sales of all iPads recorded 203,00 units overall which is about 53,000 units more than BlackBerry Playbook. 

Of course the prices of BlackBerry Playbook and iPad 4 are different where the BlackBerry Playbook selling at £129 while iPad 4 selling at £399. But the data emphasizes an important shift of the tablet market in the UK.
