(GSM Insider) - NVIDIA Unveiled Tegra 4 Powered Project Shield, Pure Android Handheld Gaming Console

Is NVIDIA entering the Android handheld gaming console market? The answer is yes. NVIDIA CEO Jenn-Hsung Huang just unveils the handheld gaming console runs powered by Tegra 4 known as the "Project Shield".

This NVIDIA Project Shield is pure Android handheld gaming console without nonsense. It runs on Android operating system so it has nothing different with other Android smartphones and the tablets in the market. It has a 5-inch small display and a gaming controller. The 5-inch display on NVIDIA Project Shield is "retina" quality which is 720p.

If you think the display is too small for your eyes, dont worry. NVIDIA Project Shield comes with HDMI port that enable the connection to TV. So it is more than just a smaller gaming console.

NVIDIA CEO Jenn-Hsung Huang showcased the NVIDIA Project Shield by playing the Dead Arrival 2. The Android gaming console is connected to a 4K TV. It is able to connect to TV via the HDMI cable.

In the future, more games coming soon to the TegraZone. So the NVIDIA Project Shield able to access to the games at TegraZone and Google Play as well. NVIDIA Project Shield also able to stream the game to PC or TV via VNC-line wireless technology.

This NVIDIA Shield is quite an explosive bomb at the CES 2013. Hopefully NVIDIA able to bring the gaming console to the market soon.
