Sony Mobile Set To Cut 1000 Jobs And Move HQ To Tokyo



(GSM Insider) - In the beginning of this year, Sony purchased half of the remaining shares of Sony Ericsson and renamed it to Sony Mobile. Sony also appointed new CEO Kazuo Hirai and hopes he can turn around the company fortunes. 

And now, Sony Mobile stated that they will cut 1000 jobs and 650 of them in Lund, Sweden. Lund is the previous HQ of Sony Ericsson. 

In addition, Sony Mobile also plans to move their HQ from Lund, Sweden back to Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo is the HQ of Sony Corp. 

However, Lund office still remains as the software development centre for Sony Mobile.  [Source]
