(GSM Insider) - Since Nokia adopted the Windows Phone operating system, we hardly see new smartphones that run on MeeGo operating system. After Nokia decided to drop MeeGo from its smartphone line, a group of MeeGo developer decided to leave Nokia and formed a new mobile company with the name of Jolla Mobile
Recently, Jolla Mobile receives investment from multiple mobile operators and using it for the development of new MeeGo operating system. The “Sailifish” is the codename for new MeeGo operating system. MeeGo set to open new development centres in Hong Kong and China.
There are a few weeks to go before the release of Windows 8 operating system. This period is the most important for Microsoft as it brings the final tweaks for the Windows 8 before launching it to the users.
Jolla Mobile set to unveil first device to run on “Sailfish” operating system in November. The first “Sailfish” smartphone will available on the market at Q3 of 2013 as there still long way to go for the development and licensing procedure among Jolla and manufacturers.
According to Jolla Mobile CEO Jussi Hurmola, MeeGo operating system is not copied from anyone and will not involve in patent lawsuit. This is another chance for manufacturer as it will low down the risk of being sued.
