(GSM Insider) - MediaTek Launched MT6589, Another Competitor for NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Samsung
Quad-core smartphones and tablets becoming popular since the announcement of first quad-core processor - Tegra 3 from NVIDIA. Since then, there are many companies introduced the quad-core SoC. Samsung introduced its Exynos 4412 that featuring in Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Later on the Qualcomm rolled out the Snapdragon S4 pro that featuring in LG Nexus 4 and Asus Padfone 2. Although the Tegra 3 is the first quad-core, but the popularity is not decrease as it featuring in HTC One X+ and Asus Nexus 7 tablet.
Earlier yesterday, Taiwanese company MediaTek which is famous in producing low price chips launched its own quad-core SoC - MT6589. MediaTek MT6589 brings another quad-core to the manufacturers.
The MediaTek MT6589 was built based on the 28nm architecture. It has PowerVR Series5XT GPU that supports 1080p Full HD resolution, DTV-grade picture enhancement, and 13-megapixels camera.
Lenovo, Huawei, LG, Sony, Gionee, TCL, ZTE, Coolpad, Vivo and others manufacturers are interested on this budget quad-core processor. There are rumours stated that Sony set to introduce budget quad-core smartphones soon.
