Exclusive: Huawei Preparing New Device With 6.1 Inches Full HD Display - Huawei Ascend Mate

(GSM Insider) - Huawei is preparing something big and powerful. Huawei Ascend Mate is the name that popup in Weibo of China. It is said to be the direct competitor for Samsung Galaxy Note II as the size is even larger than the Note II. Both are fall under the phablet category.



Everything started from the Weibo of Chinese Olympics gold medallist Ye Shi Wen (叶诗文). The olympics gold medal winner update her Weibo with a mysterious device that link to Huawei website. There is no name yet on the device but interesting part is that it is link to the Huawei. This must be something related to Huawei. 

According to tipster, it is said to be the Huawei Ascend Mate. The Huawei Ascend Mate set to come with a 6.1 inches display with the 1080p resolution. The processor is the 1.8GHz Hisilicom K3V3 quad-core processor which is made and developed by Huawei. From the size of the display and the processor, the Huawei Ascend Mate will be the direct competitor for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and LG Optimus VU 2. 

Tipster added that it has 2GB of RAM but the ROM storage remains unknown yet. It is said that the ROM storage will not lesser than 32GB. The thickness of Huawei Ascend Mate to be around 9.9mm. Since it has a large display, the battery capacity is 4000mAh. The large capacity able to provide longer battery life for users. 

The operating system of Huawei Ascend Mate is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. We do not ruled out that it might come with 4.2 Jelly Bean. The user interface is Emotion UI 1.5. 

Huawei executive confirms that Huawei Ascend Mate is on the preparing stage. There will be more information on this phablet coming soon. The Huawei Ascend Mate using by Ye Shi Wen could be the prototype of pre-release device.
