The similarities between these two devices are that they both use LED backlight for their LCD screen and feature a 5-megapixel rear camera. The main difference is their perspective operating system. As the earlier released device, the Xperia Active is running on the outdated Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) whereas the Xperia Miro is using Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
As mentioned, the two devices have the same 5-megapixel rear camera, however, the Xperia Active is capable of 720p video recording whereas the Xperia Miro only offers VGA quality for video recording. The Xperia Active also comes with a higher clocked processor as compared to the Xperia Miro (1GHz vs 800MHz). In addition, the device also features a dust proof and water resistant (up to 1metre) chassis.
On the other hand, the Xperia Miro offers a larger display screen as compared to the Xperia Active (3.5-inch vs 3.0-inch). It also comes with a larger internal storage capacity (2.2GB vs 1.0GB). The Xperia Miro also supports a front-facing VGA camera whereas the Xperia Active does not have one.
The Xperia Active is priced at S$300 range while the price for the Xperia Miro is still unavailable. However, as a mid-range device, we can expect the Xperia Miro to be priced slightly higher than the Xperia Active. In this comparison, the Xperia Active proves to have better value for your money, which is only if you can accept the lack of video-calling.
