Apple Denies Making Cheaper and Smaller iPhone

(GSM Insider) - Apple Denies Making Cheaper and Smaller iPhone.

Lately, there were many rumours stated that Apple ready to enter the low end smartphone market with smaller and cheaper iPhone. Bloomberg revealed this exclusive news a few days ago.

In recent interviews with Apple SVP of Worldwide marketing Phil Schiller, he denies Apple is working on cheaper iPhone.

Phil says that cheaper iPhone will never be the future of Apple. This is because Apple considers use only the best technology available in order to provide the best products to customers. He again denies Apple is taking in consideration about cheaper iPhone although the market share of iPhone is only 20%.

With the confirmation from Phil, the rumours about cheaper and smaller iPhone should stop here. Full stop.

Bloomberg: Apple Working On Cheaper And Smaller iPhone, Debut On Late 2013

(GSM Insider) - Bloomberg: Apple Working On Cheaper And Smaller iPhone, Debut On Late 2013.

The latest news from Bloomberg suggests that Apple is currently working in a cheaper iPhone. This is because Apple hopes to tap on customers from developing nations.

According to Bloomberg, Apple had been working on a more affordable iPhone since the February 2011. This cheaper iPhone is set to price around $99 to $149. The debut of this cheaper iPhone is said to be around late 2013. And Apple has spoken to at least one carrier in the United States on this plan.

This is probably the strategy shift from the Cupertino based company. iPhones from Apple are used to price at expensive price and consider as luxury products. But the company could change its strategy in order to tap on large base of customers in developing nations.

GSM Insider revealed that Apple CEO visits China. Tim Cook's trip to China could be involving the cheaper iPhone since Apple interested to tap on the Chinese market.

Huawei Ascend Mate vs Huawei Ascend D2 vs Apple iPhone 4S - Sizes Comparison

(GSM Insider) - Huawei Ascend Mate vs Huawei Ascend D2 vs Apple iPhone 4S - Sizes Comparison.

Big is better. This is the main quote for the smartphones in the market. The smartphone is getting larger from day to day and created the new definition known as the phablet. Phablet is between the size of smartphone and tablet.

Huawei Ascend Mate is the largest phablet to-date with its 6.1-inch large display. Huawei Ascend D2 is another phablet that launched by Huawei at the CES 2013. So how big are the Huawei Ascend Mate and Huawei Ascend D2 compare to a smartphone?

The answer is bigger a alot. As you can see from the image above showed the two phablets placed side to side with the "smartphone" iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S features 3.8-inch display that clearly dwarfed by the 6.1-inch and 5-inch display.

Perhaps it is the time for Apple to re-think its strategy. It is not a good idea to continue at the range of 4-inch for its iPhone lineup in the future.

Rumour: Sharp Stopped Supplying Medium And Small IGZO Display To Apple

(GSM Insider) - Rumour: Sharp Stopped Supplying Medium And Small IGZO Display To Apple

When there are rumours stated that the next-gen iPhone set to feature the IGZO display, another explosive rumour came from Japan. According to source from Japan, Sharp terminates the agreement with Apple in supplying IGZO display.

According to Japanese source, Sharp decided not to supply Apple with medium and small IGZO displays to Apple because the profits are too low for Sharp. Recently, Sharp was involved in financial crisis so it needs much cash to turn the company around. However, the IGZO display might still available on normal size iPad in the future.

In other words, the upcoming iPhone, iPad Mini and iPod Touch might not feature the IGZO display. The main problem is Apple already invested a lot on the technology that related to IGZO display. It is going to reveal soon on whether we will see iPhone 5S and iPad Mini 2 come with IGZO display.
