European Union Demands Huawei And ZTE Increase Pricing of Export Product

(GSM Insider) - European Union Demands Huawei And ZTE Increase Pricing of Export Product.

According to Karel De Gucht of European Union, Huawei and ZTE should follow the agreement and increase the export product price 29%. But Karel stated that Chinese companies reluctant to follow the agreement.

European Union thinks that Chinese government provides subsidy for both Huawei and ZTE. In May last year, European Union obtained proof that the Chinese government did provide subsidy to both of these companies to ensure their pricing is lower in the European market.

Karel De Gucht wants international organization to put more attention on the subsidy from the Chinese government. He wants to ensure fair competition exists between European and Chinese companies.

Besides the Huawei Ascend D2 and Huawei Ascend Mate that launching in the market soon, Huawei is preparing its own TV box as well, the Huawei MediaQ.


Huawei MediaQ is an Android TV Box. But the Android version is yet to unveil. This TV box is available in two versions - the affordable Huawei MediaQ M310 and the high-end Huawei MediaQ M810. Both Huawei MediaQ M310 and M810 are having different specs. 

The affordable Huawei MediaQ M310 comes with specs:

- 1GB RAM
- 4GB ROM

- WiFi
- Bluetooth 4.0
- HDMI port
- two USB 2.0 ports

(GSM Insider) - DoT of India Dismissed Huawei And ZTE's Demand For "Domestic Manufacturer" Status.


According to the Times of India, the Indian Department of Telecom  has dismissed the Huawei and ZTE's demand for "domestic manufacturer" status.

"We have already included members from the industry and we may not include them (read: ZTE) now," said an internal noting in a DoT note also reviewed by ET. What's more, the telecom department has also dismissed ZTE Telecom India's inclusion in a proposed subgroup for promoting domestic telecom manufacturing.

The decision from Huawei is definitely a blow for these two Chinese manufacturers that tried to enter the Indian market as the market on the rising.

(GSM Insider) - Rumor: Huawei Ascend W3 With 7mm Body Set For Launch At Mobile World Congress 2013.

Besides the Huawei Ascend P2, Huawei is said to launch another device at the Mobile World Congress 2013 - the Huawei Ascend W3. 

The possible specs of Huawei Ascend W3 were listed out by some of the Chinese based website. It will be the latest Windows Phone 8 device from the Chinese manufacturer.

Huawei Ascend W3 is said to feature a 4.5-inch display with 720p HD resolution. The display sensitivity will be same level like the PureMotion HD+ of Nokia Lumia 920

From the specs, Huawei Ascend W3 is powered by Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM. The camera of Huawei Ascend W3 is said to feature a 8-megapixel shooter. 

Source from China stated that the price of Huawei Ascend W3 is priced at RMB $3199 ($513).

Huawei Is World's Third Largest Smartphone Manufacturer, But Still Far Behind Samsung And Apple

(GSM Insider) - Huawei Is World's Third Largest Smartphone Manufacturer, But Still Far Behind Samsung And Apple.

Finally, IDC unveiled the numbers. Huawei officially the world's third largest smartphone manufacturer in terms of shipments and market share. 



For the Q4 2012, Samsung shipped 63.7 million units of smartphone followed by Apple with 47.8 million units and Huawei with 10.8 million units. Further behind are Sony that shipped 9.8 million units and ZTE with 9.5 million units. The combination of other manufacturers shipped 77.8 million units. 

For the market share, Samsung owns 29%, Apple with 21.8% while Huawei with 4.9%. But Sony and ZTE are not far behind with 4.5% and 4.3% respectively. Other manufacturers are having 77.8% of market share. 

Although the market share of Apple remains in second place with 21.8% for Q4 2012, it has been declining from 23% on the same quarter a year before. Samsung, Huawei, Sony and ZTE are enjoying the increase in market share for the Q4 2012  when compared to Q4 2011. Other manufacturers are declining in market share as well. 

Strong performance from Huawei, Sony and ZTE replaced the LG, HTC and Motorola as the top five smartphone manufacturer along with Samsung and Apple.

(GSM Insider) - Huawei Ascend P2 Press Image Surfaced, First Look Of Upcoming Ultra Thin Device.

At the CES 2013, Huawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed that there will be a new device which is known as the Huawei Ascend P2. It is said to be thinner than the all the smartphones in the market.



The Mobile World Congress 2013 getting nearer, the first image of the Huawei Ascend P1 was leaked to the internet. This image above was from the famous leaker known as the @evleaks.

According to the leaker, Huawei Ascend P2 is said to feature a 5-inch 720p HD display, 1.8GHz Hisilicon K3V2 quad-core processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. If the information from the leaker is real, then it is very disappointed about the Huawei Ascend P2. The processor that powered the 5-inch device is only K3V2 quad-core and not the upcoming K3V3 that yet to announce.

Different from Huawei Ascend D2 and Huawei Ascend Mate

Huawei Ascend D2 and Huawei Ascend Mate were announced last month at the CES 2013. Huawei Ascend D2 is features a 5-inch 1080p Full HD display while Huawei Ascend Mate features a 6.1-inch 720p HD display. 

Both devices are different from the Huawei Ascend P2. The Huawei Ascend P2 has the similar 5-inch display but with 720p HD resolution, so the price will cheaper than the Huawei Ascend D2. But Huawei Ascend P2 will thinner than the Huawei Ascend D2 and Huawei Ascend Mate in the measurement.

Huawei Ascend P2 is set for its appearance at the Mobile World Congress 2013 on next month. The invitation from Huawei was arriving a few days ago for those who taking part in the event.

Huawei Ascend W1 is the first ever Windows Phone 8 device from the Chinese company. It was unveiled at the CES 2013 as the cheapest ever Windows Phone 8 device in China. Sounds interesting, right?

According to latest news from Russia, Huawei Ascend W1 is set for launching in Europe next month, starts from Russia. This is definitely opens the door for Huawei brand Windows Phone to the European market.

The price of Huawei Ascend W1 in Russia is said to be around 11.990 rubles which is USD $400. But the price will not be as cheap as it in China. Two days ago, Huawei Ascend W1 on sale in China with the price of $273, GSM Insider reported. 

 Huawei Ascend W1 is a low budget Windows Phone 8 device. It has a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. The camera is 5-megapixels and VGA.

Huawei Ascend D2 is a waterproof device. This is no longer a secret as it was revealed even before the official launch at the CES 2013. You must be interested to see the inner components and parts of the Huawei Ascend D2 on how the waterproof able to work out.



At the image, it revealed partial components of the Huawei Ascend D2 after it was disassembled or torn down by someone in China. As a result, most of the components are waterproof. 

From the Huawei Ascend D2 device, the USB port and 3.5mm audio jack are not block or close with anything. So can the water goes in? The answer is no as the disassembled image revealed everything. 

This is because Huawei using the waterproof audio jack, waterproof USB port, waterproof receiver waterproof IMC and waterproof mic. This showed that Huawei implemented a good waterproof design for this Huawei Ascend D2. So no need to block of the audio jack and USB port. 

Huawei Ascend D2 is equipped with 5-inch 1080p Full HD display, 1.5GHz Hisilicon K3V2 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP of camera and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The invitation from Huawei on the MWC 2013 leaks for the first time. It is exactly one month to go before the MWC 2013 in Barcelona. 


The invitation reveals that Huawei's Press Conference at the MWC 2013 is set on February 24, 2013. The time is 2 to 4PM CET. The venue is Casa Llotja de Mar, Passeig d'Isabel II, 1 08003 Barcelona. However, this event is by invitation only

At the event, we all will see the new devices from Huawei. Huawei CEO Richard Yu confirmed that there will be more innovation products unveil at the MWC 2013. 

There will be at least two new smartphones from Huawei at the MWC 2013. Huawei Ascend W2 and Huawei Ascend P2. Earlier this week, Huawei CFO stated that with sufficient capital on hands, Huawei doesn't need IPO at the moment. The capital in hands still able to support the overall operation of the Chinese company. 

Huawei serving three main customers that include mobile network operators, entrepreneurs and consumers. When asking whether Huawei will split it business into different depart and goes for IPO, the CFO remains confident that no IPO is requires at the moment. 

She stated that Huawei serving 45 out of 50 world leading companies. 27 of 45 companies are the main contributor for the Chinese company as they contribution around 70 percent of revenues. This is why Huawei has enough capital.

(GSM Insider) - Huawei Ascend G615 Launches In Deutschland, 4.5-inch HD, Quad-Core and Jelly Bean For €299.


Huawei launches a new smartphone in Germany which is known as the Huawei Ascend G615. The specs are similar to the Huawei Ascend D1. 

Huawei Ascend G615 having a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with 720p resolution. It is powered by 1.4GHz HiSilicom K3V2 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. It packs with 8MP rear-facing and 1.3MP front-facing camera. 

Huawei Ascend G615 is running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, Huawei already confirmed that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is coming soon. 

Huawei Ascend G615 available in black and white two colours. It will on sale in Germany on next month with the price of €299.

Huawei Ascend W1 is the first Windows Phone 8 device from the Chinese manufacturer. It was launched at the CES 2013 two weeks ago. 

Finally, this Huawei Ascend W1 is on sale at Huawei Online Store. But it is only limited to those living in China. The Huawei Ascend W1 that on sale is the WCDMA/ GSM version with model number of W1-U00. So it is exclusive for China Telecom.

Huawei Ascend W1 is a low budget Windows Phone 8 device. It has a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. The camera is 5-megapixels and VGA.

Huawei Ascend W1 on sale with the price of RMB $1599 ($273). But Huawei offers RMB $100 rebate for those who place the order now. So the price after rebate is RMB $1499 only. It is one of the cheapest Windows phone 8 devices in China.

(GSM Insider) - Huawei Ascend D2 HW-03E For Japanese Market Announces, It Isn't A 5-inch 1080p Device.

When you heard of Huawei Ascend D2, you may recall the 5-inch 1080p phablet that made its appearance at the CES 2013. But this isn't the case in Japan.

NTT DoCoMo announces the Huawei Ascend D2 earlier with the model number of HW-03E. After browsing through the specs, this Huawei Ascend D2 HW-03E is not same like the Huawei Ascend D2 global version. The are much differences between the Japanese version and global version.

Huawei Ascend D2 HW-03E for Japanese market having a 4.7-inch 720p HD display which is smaller and lower resolution than the Huawei Ascend D2 global version that having 5-inch 1080p Full HD display. The processor and RAM in Huawei Ascend D2 HW-03E are still same like the global version at 1.5GHz Hisilicom K3V2 quad-core and 2GB of RAM.

The front-facing of Huawei Ascend D2 HW-03E is 1-megapixel while the rear-facing camera is 13-megapixels as the same for the Huawei Ascend D2 global version. Huawei Ascend D2 HW-03E is also a water-proof and dust-proof device. Both Japanese version and global version of Huawei Ascend D2 are running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Emotion UI.

The similarities between these three devices are 5-inch display with 1080p Full HD resolution, 13-megapixels rear-facing camera, GPS, Bluetooth and running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Both Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZL are powered by 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro while the Huawei Ascend D2 is powered by 1.5GHz Hi-Silicon K3V2. Both processors are quad-core. 

Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZL support microSD expansion but Huawei Ascend D2 does not support. Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZL are compatible with 4G LTE network while Huawei Ascend D2 does not support 4G LTE network. The 1.3-megapixels front-facing camera of Huawei Ascend D2 are slight different then the 2-megapixels of another two. 

Huawei Ascend D2 is the heaviest among three devices with 170g followed by Sony Xperia ZL with 151g and Sony Xperia Z with 146g. However, Huawei Ascend D2 packs with 3000mAh battery. You can expect the Huawei Ascend D2 has longer standby time and talk time.
